Dolly Parton started out as an aspiring singer from East Tennessee, and after decades of hard work, she became a beloved country icon.
During her nearly six-decade career, Parton put a smile on her fans’ faces and was regarded as one of the best in the country music business. She wowed with hits like “Jolene” and “I Will Always Love You” while giving back to the communities that raised her through various charities.
Parton also made a splash on the big screen, with 9 to 5 and Steel Magnolias among her most memorable movies.
One year after the death of her husband, Carl Thomas Dean, in March 2025, Parton’s rep confirmed in August 2026 that the musician had died at the age of 80. Her legacy, however, will live on in the hearts of those who loved her.
